More about Olfattology
The high art of perfumery
In ancient Greece, knowledge of the seven liberal arts was considered the foundation of a person's education and the basis for personal development. Octavian Sever Coifan, a perfume historian, author and perfumer known to perfume lovers worldwide, expanded this canon a few years ago to include an eighth art: perfume making. Art and craftsmanship, traditional knowledge and skill are behind it – not to mention passion, because without that, nothing extraordinary can be created.
Concept
Olfattology pays homage – nomen est omen – to the science of masterful perfume creation and is equally an expression of the passion that the brand's founding family has had for fragrances for generations. The Galardis are based in beautiful Florence, which is not only known as the cradle of the Renaissance, but also as the Italian Grasse, one of the capitals of European perfumery. From there, the Galardis conquered the perfume world with their creations and are known to fragrance lovers through their brands BOIS 1920 and Profumo di Firenze.
Olfattology is a tribute to water: its power, its incessant flow, the constant in this change is a symbol of life, of our existence. Of our strength of character, which enables us to overcome obstacles and shape our present. In its unbridled freedom and independence, water resembles our sense of smell, that fleeting essence – untameable, evoking memories and arousing emotions. The elegance of water, defined by the naturalness of its lines, characterises the curves of the bottle, an expression of authenticity and class.
Design
The packaging echoes the motif of the collection: heavy glass bottles with a soft, rounded design that appears as if polished by water. The elegant gold-coloured caps are reminiscent of pebbles resting in the depths of a riverbed.
