More about Micallef
‘The perception of a scent is the beginning of a discovery that is never complete.’ (Paul Valéry)
The small perfume house Micallef is located on the Côte d'Azur, one of the most beautiful and extravagant regions of France. It was founded in 1996 by Martine Micallef and her husband Geoffrey Newman.
While her husband Geoffrey Newman initially worked as a financial advisor for a large company that traded in aromas and ingredients, discovering his love of fragrances along the way, Martine Micallef had always been devoted to aesthetics. She ran a beauty salon in Cannes for 18 years and discovered her talent as an artist, creating drawings and paintings that were very well received at exhibitions.
Not long after the two discovered their passion for each other, they turned their attention to the production of exclusive perfumes and handmade perfume bottles. Geoffrey and Martine Micallef live and work together near Cannes, sharing and realising their dream of creating precious little works of art in the form of perfumes.
The couple find inspiration for their fragrances on their travels, including to Arab countries. Many of their customers are based there, and Martine Micallef is happy to create individual bottles or bespoke fragrances for them on request.
The Micallef fragrances are produced with as few synthetic substances as possible. Furthermore, the fragrances are still bottled by hand and the bottles are decorated by hand.
