When Andy Warhol planned to move to the Hamptons, he said he chose Montauk because of the slightly kitschy architecture of the Memory Motel (still in operation) with its Tiki, Tudor and Motel 6 décor.
Warhol became an anchor point, a beacon for an entire generation of artists, and helped Montauk achieve unexpected fame. He even rented his house to the Rolling Stones for a summer, who rehearsed there for their tour and recorded the preliminary version of one of their greatest albums, Black and Blue. They immortalised this time in the ballad Memory Motel.
The perfume of the same name is a tribute to this turbulent and effervescent era. An androgynous fragrance with tobacco notes, enveloped in patchouli leaves and infused with a hint of vanilla. A touch of yesterday, a little vintage, rock “n” roll, but still timeless.
