Warm and enchanting – Portuguese pharmacist Tomé Pires became ambassador to China in the 16th century. He began writing and was the first European to describe the islands of Southeast Asia. He also reported on the warm and enchanting aromas of sandalwood, which grew on the Indonesian islands of Sumba and Timor.
His works inspired the renowned perfumer Coty in 1934 to create the fragrance ‘A Suma’, which captures the scent of Bali's beaches in the moonlight. Suma Oriental is an enchanting fragrance that enriches patchouli with a rich complex of woody and soft notes.
