Master perfumer Roja Dove has reinterpreted the story of ‘A Midsummer Night's Dream’ in his own language, that of perfume, in honour of William Shakespeare's timeless legacy. He has created a fragrant elixir that transports the wearer from everyday life into an ethereal fantasy world.
The inspiration for ‘A Midsummer Dream’ comes from the belief that perfume has the power to transport us to an enchanted place – a dreamland. It can detach us from the reality of the mundane and take us to temporary fantasy worlds. Like the caress of a lover, fragrance can touch us, move us and inspire our existence.
‘In Shakespeare's play ’A Midsummer Night's Dream", we encounter the court jester Puck – half man, half goat. He carries a “love potion” that seduces all who fall under its spell. For me, that is exactly why we wear perfume: to be loved. Puck's potion was the perfect starting point for my new creation. During the play, we see how people succumb to Puck's magical accomplice and fall asleep. As soon as they wake up, they fall in love with the first soul they encounter. It is obvious that Titania, the queen of the fairies, dreams of love as she sleeps on a bed of musk and roses. So I combined these two ingredients in the base of “A Midsummer Dream” and blended a very sensual, soft rose with a comforting musk accord. I added vanilla because it is known to enhance sensory perceptions. Oakmoss and tree lichen are also found in the base of the fragrance, alluding to Hermia, another victim of Puck's love potion, who sleeps on a bed covered with moss." – Roja Dove.
Shakespeare's legendary faun and the fusion of flora and fauna provide the inspiration for the new Roja Parfums unisex fragrance, in which masculine elements of the forest meet feminine floral symbols.

Bergamot and grapefruit create a fresh envelope for a bouquet of rose and orange blossom at the heart of this creation, underscored by notes of moss and patchouli, brought to life by a blend of cardamom, elemi and pink pepper. The whole is sublimated by a warm, soft base of vetiver, cedarwood, benzoin, vanilla, carrot seed, iris and musk.
