Blue Suede Shoes does not simply refer to blue suede leather shoes – or, as they are more commonly known, suede shoes – but also to a legendary piece of music history. The rock “n” roll song of the same name by Carl Perkins was released in 1956 and is one of the most successful singles of all time. In the same year, the King, Elvis Presley, recorded a slightly faster cover version. Although not intended as a single, it ended up in the singles charts and made the song world famous. The lyrics are full of humour and tell the story of someone who adores his blue suede shoes, urging the listener: ‘Do what you want, beat me up, set my house on fire, steal my car... but just don't step on my blue suede shoes.’
Blue Suede Shoes – the fragrance
With so much dynamic inspiration, a powerful fragrance was bound to emerge. The concept of creative director Herbert Stricker was brought to life by perfumers Blanca Dalmau and Christian Carbonnel.
Right at the start, Blue Suede Shoes greets us with a fresh, herbaceous and spicy blend. Tart bergamot and aromatic lavender are delicately accentuated by aniseed and pepper. The heart notes exude a woody and rather dry undertone. Cedarwood contributes significantly to this, but tame patchouli, fine ambergris and creamy sandalwood also support this trait. A soft base underscores the fresh and woody fragrance with harmoniously blended components such as vetiver, tonka bean and labdanum.
The elegant steel-blue bottle reinforces the impression that Blue Suede Shoes is an expressive citrus fragrance that is equally appreciated by men and women.
