The seemingly mysterious combination of numbers and colours, 17 Rosso (Italian for red), refers to the address of Roberto Ugolini's workshop in Via dei Michelozzi in Florence. The house number is 17 R, where R stands for Rosso, red. In Florence, red numbers indicate commercial or public places such as restaurants or shops, while blue and black numbers indicate private houses. If you want to visit Roberto Ugolini in person, be sure to tell your driver ‘17 Rosso’; otherwise, you could easily end up somewhere else entirely, as the red house numbers are not aligned with the black ones. Once you have mastered this charming Florentine hurdle, you will find yourself standing in front of the inconspicuous door of the shoemaker's workshop, between an osteria and a café. As simple as the doorway is, the world of traditional craftsmanship that presents itself to you is utterly fascinating. The finest materials and artistic genius are combined with a passion for the extraordinary. Roberto Ugolini stands for uncompromising quality and an extravagant Italian style like no other. Appreciated worldwide, the master craftsman has become one of the best bespoke shoemakers of his time.
17 Rosso – the fragrance
17 Rosso embodies a passion for exceptional craftsmanship like no other fragrance. To emphasise this, 17 Rosso also has an exceptionally high concentration of fragrance oil, a full 30%, which means it is classified as an extrait de parfum. As with all the fragrances in the collection, the concept was created by Herbert Stricker and realised by perfumers Christian Calabrò and Maurizio Cerizza.
The top notes alone heighten the anticipation of an impressive fragrance: fruity white peach stands out above all, surrounded by leathery saffron, cool mint and green raspberry leaves. This is complemented by fruity cananga oil from the tropical plant Cananga odorata, also known as ylang-ylang. The heart reveals rich Damask rose, fruity-spicy pink pepper and peony notes, rounded off with peppery nasturtium. Balsamic styrax resin, floral-soft ambrette seeds and woody amyris form the base together with vetiver and cedarwood.
17 Rosso is a true unisex fragrance. The bottle has been lacquered in an exciting metallic red to match this wonderful house number in Florence.
