The fragrance ‘François Charles’ was created by Jean Rancé in 1811 to mark the birth of Napoleon I's heir to the throne and only legitimate son. The fragrance was also an expression of the wish that the young prince would follow in his father's glorious footsteps.
Jeanne Sandra, the perfumer's great-granddaughter, has given his creation a very modern interpretation: François Charles is a masculine fragrance with strong aromas – the perfect balance of natural appeal and authentic masculinity. Its olfactory structure is rich in contrasts: extremely fresh notes of grapefruit, bergamot and Calabrian lemon combine with the delicate but intense scent of cinnamon, anise and pepper. The heart notes of lavender and orange are accompanied by sage and orange blossom, rounded off by jasmine. Lush oriental notes characterise the base note: the depth of the cedarwood aromas is complemented by iris and ambergris, while vetiver, chocolate and sandalwood add a warm touch.
The François Charles bottle is characterised by its clean, elegant lines. It is decorated with the imperial emblem and a delicate bow in elegant grey.
