... and where else but from across the seas could these essences, which even the great Caesar used, have come from? In fact, it was the spices and the oriental atmosphere that the Roman sailors imported from the eastern provinces that gave rise to perfumes. Aura Pompeiis is powerful and delicate at the same time, with pink pepper, lemon, iris, musk and woody notes, a caress of the Scirocco on the skin, to be inhaled and worn with lightness and elegance.

The history
Thanks to traditions and clues from historical sources, experts were finally able to find the long-sought Via dei Profumieri in the archaeological site of Pompeii in 2011.
The Via degli Augustali connects the Via Stabiana with the Via del Foro. Along this street, three shops numbered 26, 27 and 28 were found where perfumes were manufactured. The perfumers met in a guild located not far from the Via degli Augustali on the upper floor of the Macellum (market hall). From the spices that Roman sailors imported from the eastern provinces via the ports of Pozzuoli and Ostia, they made perfumed ointments that were sold in small glass bottles, terracotta or alabaster containers.
In collaboration with experienced master perfumers, Pompeii has reinterpreted the fragrances of this era in a modern way, reviving the opulence and splendour of a culture that has left an indelible mark on the history of mankind.
