Felanilla, Guillaume's 21st fragrance, is a true masterpiece. The discerning nose expects vanilla, but what a vanilla! Guillaume completely overturns the image of traditional vanilla fragrances by combining two concepts that are extremely rare in olfactory terms: félin(e), feline, cat-like, and vanilla. A vanilla with animal influences, then, but Felanilla is much more than that... or is Guillaume alluding to the history of the cat, its mythological significance as a multifaceted goddess?
Felanilla plays its trump card right from the top notes with vanilla, a smoky, dark representative enveloped in velvety iris and saffron, with a golden yellow hue. The trio is complemented by ambergris. Not just any ambergris, but the finest, driest ambergris with animalic undertones. The fragrance thus shows its irresistible claws right from the start, and if that's not enough to convince you, the appearance of banana wood, a stately combination of woody nuances and ripe, sweet banana paired with honey-dry hay aromas, should do the trick.
Felanilla does indeed harbour a divine spark, at least one, to return to the cat deities: the fragrance is an opulent, thoroughbred beauty, a beguiling, powerful oriental fragrance tapestry, richly amber and dry-fruity. A real treat for fans of ambergris scents, oriental fragrances and those who appreciate something a little different in a gourmand – which is definitely how we would describe this fragrance, even if it is a dark and exotic addition to this group.
