Parfums de Marly - Pegasus Exclusif

Unleashed masculinity

Parfums de Marly unveils another fragrance from the Les Métalliques collection: Pegasus Exclusif. The image of masculinity is deconstructed, as are its olfactory clichés. The essence bears the unmistakable signature of the modern man. Pegasus Exclusif is dedicated to the pursuit of a new masculinity. More refined and with greater freedom.

This fragrance continues the tradition of the independent brand founded in 2009 by Julien Sprecher, which aims to revive the golden age of perfume: the 18th century, its splendour and the extraordinary elegance of the Cour des Senteurs, its typically French audacity.

Not quite the same, but not completely different either. Pegasus, with its woody and extraordinarily refined signature, was a milestone in the history of Parfums de Marly. Pegasus Exclusif retains two of its most characteristic and addictive ingredients: bitter almond and vanilla. The sensuality of the highly prized vanilla is given tension by oriental notes of ambergris and woods (sandalwood, natural oud and guaiac wood), combined with a floral heart.

Jasmine, lavender, bitter almond and geranium. Then the call for freedom. A delicate harmony of bergamot, pink pepper, cardamom and heliotrope. An abundance of elegance. Pegasus Exclusif is like a new dress code. Its characteristic features are relaxed masculinity and heightened strength. There are as many forms of masculinity as there are men.

A fragrance with a strong character, Pegasus Exclusif develops dynamism on the skin. The precious essence of each ingredient in this creation creates an intense alchemy for the wearer, as well as extraordinary strength and resilience. Whoever wears it finds their own temperament in the fragrance. Their power. Their strength.

The combination of its elements and the idea of freedom are reflected in the brand's communication. Leather and earth, metal and stone. Is it any wonder? The 18th century has a new decor. A galloping thoroughbred horse, the call for wide open spaces. Multifaceted, but always consistent on the skin.

France – something like the secret birthplace of perfume. During the reign of the Louis kings at the French court, beginning with the legendary Sun King Louis XIV and continuing through to Louis XVI, the court was also known as the ‘perfumed court’ due to the kings' passion for perfume: Not only did people perfume themselves extensively, but the chambers were also scented, even the fountains. Perfumes were considered status symbols – just like horses, which were kept and bred there with the same passion.

In 1743, the reigning king, Louis XV, commissioned the sculptor Guillaume Coustou to create horse statues in memory of his great-grandfather Louis XIV. These were erected in the parks of the kings' summer residence in Marly-le-Roi. These horse statues are now known as Les Chevaux de Marly and have achieved world fame as masterpieces of Baroque art. Replicas of the statues line the Champs-Élysées in Paris at its junction with the Place de la Concorde, while the originals have now found a home in the Louvre.

Parfums de Marly combines the passions of Louis XV – perfumes and horses – in its fragrance line. Designed as an olfactory homage to the magnificent perfume creations of that era, the fragrances are named after noble horse breeds and presented in flacons elaborately decorated with racy horses.
