Ossianism was a romantic style of poetry in 19th-century Europe. Ossian was the narrator and alleged author of a Celtic epic poem cycle.
Ossian had a great influence on the Romantic movement at the end of the 18th and in the 19th century.
The poems achieved world fame (Napoleon Bonaparte was an enthusiastic fan) and many writers, painters and artists were influenced by this work, such as paintings by Ingres, Schubert's music and the perfumes of Oriza L. Legrand.
