Leather Shot is a woody, smoky and spicy leather fragrance, carried by the powdery elegance of iris, cedarwood and driftwood.
Leather Shot is inspired by a pristine image of dark brown sand, whose surface resembles leather: a sign that appears on the surface of the water and earth like a small stream merging with the sea on the west coast of New Zealand's North Island. First steps in ‘Haute Parfumerie’
‘Sepia’ is the name of the new collection from Olfactive Studio. The first three Extraits de Parfum are an opening trilogy created in collaboration with Bertrand Duchaufour, the perfumer behind Woody Mood, and English artist Martin Hill, whose photographs served as inspiration for each individual Extrait de Parfum.
At first glance, it is the bottle that makes this new collection so special. While the clear lines and wave shape moulded into the glass, characteristic of Olfactive Studio, have been retained, the bottle in the new collection is enveloped in a sienna-coloured leather sleeve. The cap captivates with its copper-coloured ochre tone, as does the metal plate below the neck. The colour scheme is reminiscent of the sepia tones of old photographs that we cherish as memories. The elegant, soft and warm leather gives a first hint of the nature of the fragrance composition: precious, elegant and revealing an exquisite raw material whose concentration and processing elevate the fragrance to the class of ‘Haute Parfumerie’.
Each Extrait de Parfum begins with a scent note or accord of the raw material, bringing out the vanilla, leather and chypre accord, for example, depending on the fragrance.
The ‘shot’ is as sensual as it is photographic; a single impressive photo taken at just the right moment. These three extraits de parfum are powerful and impressively designed, and the photographs associated with them help to intensify this graceful mood. Three land art landscapes were designed and photographed by Martin Hill. He lives and works in New Zealand, where he has been giving the natural environment a dreamlike and artistic dimension since 1992. In the same way, Bertrand Duchaufour reveals his ability to transform and reinvent through the use of an ingredient or an accord. Photography and fragrance echo and reinforce each other.

Martin Hill is an internationally acclaimed environmental artist and land art photographer who has been successfully spreading an idea around the world for more than two decades: In collaboration with Philippa Jones, he explores the idea that ecological, social and economic sustainability can only be achieved through the use of regenerative design principles learned from natural systems.
Hill and Jones live and work together, surrounded by mountains and lakes in Wanaka on the South Island of New Zealand. They travel the world exploring wild places where they work directly with nature. Their sculptures are a response to the environment from which they are made and to which they are returned. They use natural materials sourced from the same location so that, after the works have been photographed, they can be returned to the natural cycle of the environment without causing any harm.
Through various forms of publication and exhibition, his story and environmental sculpture photographs have reached a wide audience. ‘Earth to Earth,’ a book of his sculptures, was published in 2007, in which writings by famous scientists, designers and business leaders were linked to his photographs.
