The Sentiero degli Dei (‘Path of the Gods’) is one of the most beautiful and famous hiking trails on the Mediterranean coast. It offers breathtaking views of the famous coastline south of Sorrento and runs between Bomerano and Nocelle, a small village high above the Amalfi Coast. This indescribable route offers views of the deep blue sea, where the Monti Lattari mountains sink into the water, and the nearby island of Capri. Since time immemorial, it has told the myths and legends of the people who live here and the hikers who pass by.
The name of this enchanting path comes from Greek mythology and recalls the encounter between Ulysses and the sirens. The home of the sirens is said to have been the small archipelago of Li Galli, west of Positano. According to legend, Odysseus had his companions plug their ears with wax so that they could not hear the sirens' beguiling song. He had himself tied to the ship's mast. The gods of Olympus flew down to earth to save their favourite from shipwreck.
However, they landed far too far east. In their haste, they trampled over the previously untouched, gently rolling coastline, leaving behind traces that can still be seen today in the cliffs and breathtaking landscape of the Amalfi Coast. Apart from the legends, numerous historical evidence shows that many educated travellers (Goethe, Lenormant, Mendelssohn, Wagner and many more) knew the path of the gods and praised its beautiful landscape.
Il sentiero degli dei by Nobile 1942 takes you through the fragrant nuances of this path: bright and sparkling top notes of green lemon leaves blend in the heart with a floral bouquet of rose, jasmine and iris. Finally, the woody base note is characterised by notes of amber and tonka beans, which form a perfect sillage.
