Lalibela – A Mystical Rose
Lalibela is named after the city of the same name in Ethiopia: located at an altitude of over 2,500 metres, it is known worldwide for its eleven monolithic churches, which were carved out of basalt lava in the 12th century and are now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Historically significant, ‘Lalibela’ is also full of secrets: many myths and stories surround the holy city – for example, the builders of the churches are said to have been angels who descended from heaven one night to complete their work by dawn.
The fragrance ‘Lalibela’ was certainly not conceived in a single night, but it could well have been an angel who tried his hand at it. A complex and extremely well-balanced, densely woven fragrance unfolds as soon as it is sprayed: a sweet, balsamic heaviness spreads alongside a room-filling bouquet of exquisite flowers, almost caramelised in effect. Coconut spices and accentuates, while the balsamic heart of the fragrance gains more and more depth – patchouli wraps itself in a dress of vanilla, framed by labdanum, delicate woody notes and a hint of incense.
‘Lalibela’ is much more than just a mystical rose – the fragrance is a lush still life for lovers of floral orientals, breathtaking and seductive.
