With a radically new approach, founder and perfumer Aurélien Guichard has created a modern interpretation of lavender – generous yet effortless to wear. The new Eau de Parfum Metal Lavender plays on the contrast between two varieties of lavender: lavandin, with its lively, almost metallic facets, grown exclusively for Matière Première on the perfumer’s own eco-certified fields in the Grasse region, and organically grown lavender from Haute-Provence, which has a soft, floral character. Enhanced by notes of musk and cashmeran, a gentle, enveloping fragrance unfolds with a luminous sillage.

A new vision of lavender 
Inspired by the atmosphere of a typical distillery in Provence, Aurélien Guichard explored a new form of expression for lavender through modern abstraction.

Lavender is often interpreted through familiar aromatic notes. For Metal Lavender, Aurélien Guichard imagined the blue raw material as effortless, generous and comforting. The deliberately minimalist formula, with its structuring accord of two lavenders, enhanced by musk and cashmeran, places the focus on diffusion and a flowing sensuality.

A unique raw material, cultivated by Aurélien Guichard
At the heart of Metal Lavender lies lavandin oil, extracted from plants grown in the perfumer’s fields exclusively for Matière Première.

Since February 2023, 10,000 plants have been cultivated without pesticides on Ecocert-certified fields belonging to the Fleurs d’Exception du Pays de Grasse. Continuous, entirely manual weeding preserves the aromatic purity of Lavandin Grosso. The result is a raw material of rare quality – fresh and vibrant. To extend the lavender signature in Metal Lavender, Aurélien Guichard developed a accord featuring an organic Lavender Maillette absolue from Haute-Provence, harvested from higher-altitude growing regions.
