The whole universe.
Act II, Scene 2
Light, rarefied air. Utter silence. Cows lie lazily on the grass and stare at you while the prayer wheels begin to turn. The monks' overtone chant echoes from the monastery - two notes ring out in perfect, peaceful harmony.
A scent of myrrh and frankincense - light and delicate. A contemplative atmosphere. Vibrations on two levels at the same time.
Interpreted by Christian Carbonnel
‘If Luci ed Ombre was the fragrance that symbolised the indecision between light and shadow, then with Mandala we wanted to ‘sing two notes at once’. It was wonderful to have the opportunity to listen to the monks chanting overtones. We tried to recreate that meditative, trance-like feeling with this fragrance. Myrrh and frankincense are the most prominent notes in this composition.
Rania J. introduced us to Christian Carbonnel a few years ago. We remember talking to Rania at an exhibition in Germany about the quality of some of the raw materials in her fragrances. She told us that she sourced some top raw materials through Carbonnel. We met Christian and got to know his company. Over time, a friendship developed with Christian and a year ago we decided it was high time to work with him. In addition to his special expertise in oriental fragrances, we have to say that Christian also surprised us with some incredible raw materials.’ - Alessandro Brun and Ricardo Tedeschi
