Mudéjar Obscur is a night-time stroll. It begins by taking us through the garden of a Mudéjar palace, where the air is filled with scents and aromas. As we enter the building, the shadows become darker and the freshness more intense. Mudéjar Obscur is a polarising fragrance with strong contrasts.
The inspiration for Mudéjar Obscur is the same as for the first Mudéjar fragrance. It is Mudéjar art, a syncretic art form that developed in Andalusia between the 12th and 16th centuries. Sacred and secular buildings were constructed using a rich and fertile architectural vocabulary that combines artistic, technical and symbolic contributions from different cultures.
The stone has stood the test of time. Today, it vividly reminds us of the happy artistic and symbolic blend of the three monotheistic cultures that united the Andalusian land. The hands of Mudéjar craftsmen carved, engraved, painted and shaped this eternal testimony. The churches are decorated with arabesques, exaggerated arches and embossed plaster. The bell towers are shaped like minarets. The palaces house ceramic treasures and courtyards that rival those of Damascus.
