Inspired by the tasting of a hibiscus tea in the heart of a gemstone market, Hibiscus Mahajad by Maison Crivelli sees a flamboyant floral duo of hibiscus and rose contrast with the softness of vanilla beans, leather and musks.
Inspiration
“Around 4 pm, the market I was in slowly came to life. The heat was just beginning to dissipate. The ochre-coloured reflections of the late afternoon sun were mirrored in the windows and on the white walls around me, gradually taking on these hues.
Here and there, people strolled about casually. The atmosphere grew increasingly restless. The traders displayed their finest pieces: colourful fabrics, lacquered wooden and marble furniture, amulets, precious jewels in a thousand hues. Everything was an abundance of gold, silver, amethyst, coloured sapphires and jade …
I remember sitting between two stalls to rest. I was served a fresh, fruity and sweet infusion of rose and hibiscus blossoms, sweetened with a hint of cinnamon, mint and vanilla. A true delight.” — Thibaud Crivelli
Hibiscus Mahajád opens with an extravagant note featuring fruity accents of Ebelia (blackcurrant). The luminosity of the top notes is enhanced by peppermint essential oil, whilst cinnamon rounds off the blackcurrant with its powdery facet.
The heart note rests on an exceptional quality of Damask rose with floral and slightly fruity facets. The floral note is complemented by nymphaeal, which accompanies the bloom with a transparent vibration. Finally, leather warms the creation and lends a darker nuance.
The base notes of the creation have been enriched with hibiscus seeds (ambrette absolute) and the powdery sweetness of cinnamon, as well as a trio of ambrofix, benzoin and vanilla absolute to enhance the sensual warmth of the leather.
