While traveling in the Middle East, Frédéric Malle observed that a promise between two people is subject to the strictest code of honor. Portrait of a Lady
Portrait of a Lady is a new type of oriental rose, a baroque perfume. It is based on an accord of benzoin, cinnamon, sandalwood and, above all, patchouli, musk and incense. It opens with an excessive dose of the finest Turkish rose essence, which Dominique Ropion combines with red berries and a spicy accord with the rest of the formula. Hundreds of attempts were needed to balance such an excessive formula (Portrait of a Lady is undoubtedly the perfume with the highest rose essence and patchouli content in the heart note), resulting in a rare symphonic perfume: a new oriental rose, a sensual beauty that attracts people like a magnet.
