Inspired by the drawers in the sacristy of St. Mark's Basilica in Venice.
It smells almost oriental and is reminiscent of the spices (from the Latin ‘species’, meaning special, valuable goods) that arrived in the lagoon city by sea. In Venice, spice makers experimented with these ingredients, mixing and measuring them before selling them in small packets known as ‘sacchetti veneziani’. From that moment on, Venice and the world could no longer do without spices, which were used not only to season food, but often also for the festive and precious decoration of cathedrals adorned with golden mosaics.
Memento
A drawer contains a wish,
it trembles at the sight of it
smells of history
holds mourning beauty and memory.
Memento, from the Latin ‘to remember’ or ‘to recall’.
The priest says it before celebrating the rite of Mass in the sacristy, a room inside the church that is not only used to prepare for Mass but also as a place to store liturgical vestments, sacred objects and relics.
Eight fragrances that reveal places and treasures, inspired by as many places known throughout the world for their experiences of faith and piety.
Eight fragrances that describe ancient treasure chests full of secrets and wonders, offering answers and comfort to those who seek truth on their journey.
Eight whispered prayers, like moments of meditation in which time stands still and one perceives a golden sculpture bathed in infinity. Eight blessing hands that tell of hidden paths, slumbering voices, human concerns, troubled consciences, fragrant and suffering currents.
Memento is a hidden space, a word that echoes the idea of living in the present, enjoying every moment to the fullest and being aware of the transience of time.
Memento is a reminder not to forget trust, even when persecution seems to reign over beauty.
Memento, as a sound that echoes in the silence of the soul, recalls smiles, tears, pages of time that whisper stories from the past.
Memento, as a blessing that seeps into the heart and soul, an invisible tattoo that marks forever, in the awareness of the value and meaning of our journey.
Memento as the key to a silent lock that unlocks the dreams of imagination and heals the wounds inflicted upon us,
Memento as a refuge in the forest of our certainties, in the crying of life and true spiritual connection.
