A majestic ever-changing breeze. It’s this marriage of geranium with the Texas cedar which accompanies the freshness and the vitality of the Harmattan in a unique fragrance. This particular olfactory structure is built around a base of supple leather reminiscent of North African tanneries.
Sonia’s Inspiration
Here, I wanted to portray the boundless desert and this particular, ever-changing, wind mimicking the alternating shade and light of the undulating dunes with its subtle temperature variations. The Harmattan’s coolness and the shading of the dunes are evoked by geranium leaves contrasting with the more textured cedar evergreen needles to create the texture. In contrast, I introduced the warm balmy Harmattan zephyr and the dune-reflected light by the majestic depth of supple leather lending their density and mystery to the perfume.
The Leather Collection – Wind Concept
Khamsin is a dry, hot, sandy local wind affecting Egypt. In the entire Mediterranean basin, winds have different local names, such as Bad-i-sad-o-bistroz in Iran and Afghanistan, Haboob in the Sudan, Aajej in southern Morocco, Ghibli in Tunis, Harmattan in the western Maghreb, Africo in Italy, Sirocco which blows in winter over much of the Middle East, and Simoom. From the Arabic word for “fifty”, these dry, sand-filled windstorms blow sporadically in Egypt over a fifty-day period in spring, hence the name.
The brand identity
Femininity, spirit of discovery, timeless luxury, depth, uniqueness.
"As a perfumer, I have always seen my work as a way to speak to the subconscious of others. I awaken their curiosity and invite them on a journey. They gain insight into my memories and can make their own discoveries. My creations are real destinations, places that anyone can travel to. I don't make rules, I just make suggestions." - Sonia Constant
