The polka dot has become practically the symbol of Comme des Garçons. The story of this perfume began with the image of the polka dot. Rei Kawakubo requested that the fragrance was based around the smell of the osmanthus flower which adorns the parks and roadsides all over Japan in autumn.
Comme des Garçons Parfum’s artistic director, Christian Astuguevieille, thus worked with perfumer Lucas Sieuzac along these lines, recreating the scent of osmanthus and building a world around it. His aim was not only to capture the smell of the flower but to reproduce the mysterious allure that permeates the air of a park filled with osmanthus tree blossom. Comme des Garçons DOT captures the suave floralcy with fruity tonalities that emanates from the blossoms with radiant green notes to illustrate the leaves and white ambery woods that reflect the bark of the tree. To this was added olibanum for its resinous touch and pepper oil to enhance the balsamic, spicy aspect of the frankincense.
