Artek, established in 1935 by four young guns, including Alvar and Aino Aalto, Maire Gullichsen and Nils-Gustav Hahl is, if you will, a Finnish furniture store, but in reality it is much more a cradle of modern design. Even today, collaborating with several designers, Artek is still regarded as style icons and trend-setters.
„This project was conceived in the pleasant atmosphere of the first Artek and Comme des Garçons collaboration in 2007 at CDG's Dover Street Market and Aoyama stores. The result is a unique product for Artek through an invaluable partenship with an organisation which is always at the forefront of cultural reinvention. The visual aesthetics of the object - Standard fragrance - were developed to stand along with Artek's praticular ideology and products.” - Ville Kokkonen, Head designer Artek
The fragrance was developed by Christian Astuguevieille, perfume creator at Comme des Garçons. The composition is a blend of fennel, ginger, lemon, musk, saffron and cedarwood in the top notes and Finnish Labrador Tea, Twinflower Linnea Borealis, metal and rust in the base notes.
The pure, stream-lined design of the Standard fragrance was developed to stand along with Artek's ideology and existing products. In line with Artek's design philosophy, the scent is created with the aim to nourish physical and emotional wellbeing.
