La Sélection Nomade is a box containing three legendary timeless fragrances: Bal d'Afrique, Blanche and Gypsy Water.
Bal d'Afrique
The Paris of the late 1920s, with its affinity for African art and culture and its enthusiasm for African music and dance, was the inspiration for this fragrance based on vetiver grass. Gorham wanted to create a warm and romantic interpretation of vetiver, a blend of Parisian avant-garde and African culture. A fragrance that is dynamic and unique in its expression and statement, reflecting the euphoric and excessive lifestyle of the time in all its intensity.
Blanche
‘Blanche’ is an olfactory impression of the colour white, as Gorham, the creative mind behind Byredo, explains: ‘As the name suggests, “Blanche” is a composition that explores my perception of the colour white.’
But that's not all: the fragrance is also dedicated to a very special person, as Gorham reveals: "For the first time, I had a specific person in mind for whom this perfume was intended. I wanted to capture the innocent and unspoiled side of their personality with an almost transparent fragrance. The perfume is a tribute to her timeless beauty, a pure and straightforward fragrance that captivates with its extreme character."
Gypsy Water
When Ben Gorham lived in Italy, he often watched Roma people washing their clothes in a nearby river. Gypsy Water is the result of Gorham's fascination with the Roma and their lifestyle. The fragrance is a tribute to their free and independent, proud and colourful life in harmony with nature. Gypsy Water evokes images of fresh earth, deep forests and campfires, paying homage to the centuries-old myth of the Romani way of life.
