Voyance means ‘clairvoyance’ or ‘fortune telling’ in French. At Baruti, the fragrance was described as ‘smoky, luminous and transparent, a mysterious paradox.’ For how can smoke represent light and transparency?
One could imagine fortune telling as groping in the fog, supposedly bringing clarity and transparency to a future that is so difficult for us to predict.
Smoky vetiver, earthy and dark, exudes its aura, captured by balsamic-soft guaiac wood. Added to this is a mystical tuberose.
Perhaps it is with her that the figure of the fortune teller appears, for it is she who dispels the fog of ignorance: clean sandalwood and musk notes ultimately promise purity and clarity, but a final doubt remains as to whether this clarity is not a mirage, an illusion. ‘Voyance’ is a complex fragrance, full of smoke, contradictions and tensions that gradually dissolve.
