The relaunch of the first fragrance that reflects the olfactory universe of cult perfumery. Signature Eau de Parfum – there is no other name for the signature fragrance from Aedes de Venustas, with which the New York cult perfumery pays homage to the past, present and future of true perfume art. The first Eau de Parfum launched by the brand in 2012 deliberately breaks with the traditional structures of conventional fragrances. Instead, it exudes the olfactory richness that reflects the spirit of the cult perfumery from which it originates.
‘The universe of Aedes de Venustas is a world of luxury and quality. It is as opulent as it is baroque, yet also a little decadent in a sophisticated way,’ says Bertrand Duchaufour. The famous French perfumer collaborated with Robert Gerstner and Karl Bradl, the founders of Aedes de Venustas and Aedes Perfumery. He refers to the enchanting boudoir ambience of the original boutique. Colour nuances in bright burgundy and aubergine set the tone, while shimmering, iridescent details such as peacock feathers and textures of velvet, the finest silk, taffeta and brocade inspired the creation of a fragrance that is both modern and mysterious.
The composition of Aedes de Venustas Signature Eau de Parfum is a world unto itself. There is no trace of a traditional fragrance pyramid. Instead, the formula captivates with a lush, yet thoroughly futuristic structure that is round, luxurious and extremely sensual. Duchaufour describes the Eau de Parfum as ‘a play of complementary elements’. Just as an architect combines different materials to create a fascinating structure, Duchaufour has built an irresistible fragrance from overlapping ingredients. The initially fleeting green rhubarb note becomes stronger, blending with dark, resinous incense, while the chypre accord recedes in favour of abstraction. This interplay between freshness and depth is the axis around which the perfume revolves. Those who wear it leave an unforgettable scent trail.
In addition to the main players, rhubarb and incense, nuances of tomato leaf, red currant, honeysuckle, vetiver and hazelnut form the fragrance's supporting cast. Duchaufour is always on the lookout for unusual ingredients. To this end, he travels to plant breeders and flower growers all over the world to work with them on sustainable methods for fair trade cultivation. For Signature, he used vetiver, which he discovered in Madagascar.
Aedes de Venustas Signature is now presented in a new, very high-quality and sophisticatedly designed bottle: peacock blue accents mark the ribbed bottle. The cap is matt black and embossed with the brand's insignia. It is a harmoniously sleek yet powerful and striking design with which Aedes de Venustas begins the next chapter in its success story.
Whether the mind wants to believe it or not, the heart knows immediately: those who wear Signature surround themselves with a sensual magic that is second to none. This eau de parfum is the first proof that Aedes de Venustas immerses perfume enthusiasts in a world of fragrance that revolutionises everything that came before and everything that could yet be achieved.
