You can almost see the room expanding as the fragrance spreads. It exudes immense power with a soft, velvety touch. Like words spoken in a whisper. To achieve this, perfumer Catherine Selig has harmoniously juxtaposed notes from opposite ends of the spectrum.
Catherine Selig: ‘I wanted to convey a sense of security that comes from a position of power. Those who wear the fragrance should be surrounded by a halo of warmth and security – like a cocoon.’
Catherine Selig sees fragrances as a medium for communicating with the soul. ’You can say a lot about a person if you know what fragrance they wear and how much they spray on. Fragrances have spiritual powers, and the secret lies in creating those powers. I start with the name, the colours and, above all, the emotion.’
Perfumery is in Catherine's blood. She is the great-granddaughter of 19th-century master perfumer Meinrad Hilfiger. Her friends call her ‘the enchanting perfumer’.
