More about Ramón Monegal

Ramón Monegal is an integral part of Barcelona's history and one of Spain's most important perfumers, as he belongs to the fourth generation of the family that founded Myrurgia S.A. Ramón trained between 1972 and 1976 at the Maison Myrurgia in Geneva under his mentor, master perfumer Arturo Jordi Pey (Firmeniche), then in Grasse with M. P. Marcel Carles (Roure Bertrand and Argeville) and finally in Paris with master perfumers Pierre Bourdon (Takasago and Fragrance Resources) and Max Gavarry (I.F.F.).

In 1979, Ramón created his first successful fragrance, Alada, for Myrurgia, which went on to become a bestseller in the years that followed. At this point, Ramón was appointed Director of Perfumes at Myrurgia, where he developed projects and fragrances for Don Algodón, Massimo Dutti (Grupo Zara), Adolfo Domínguez, Julio Iglesias, Seve Ballesteros, Panama Jack, Antonio Miro and several others. Just like ‘Alada’, his creations for Don Algodón, Massimo Dutti and Adolfo Domínguez also established themselves as market-leading perfumes. Finally, in 1985, Ramón Monegal was promoted to head of the company and shortly afterwards to vice president.

Antonio Puig S.A. took over Myrurgia S.A. in 2000 and asked Ramón to stay on to develop Myrurgia and new lines such as Pacha and Maison Parfum. In 2008, Ramón set up his own business and continued his work with Adolfo Domínguez.

In 2009, he finally founded his own company, Monegal Projects, whose first project was to create the RM (Ramón Monegal) brand: a completely new experience in terms of sales, always with the ambition of creating an international brand.

Ramón describes the fragrances in the collection as ‘vibrant presences that flatter the senses and little sensations that emphasise personal charm. The fragrances captivate the senses, caress the skin, envelop you and provoke a reaction.’
