More about Notes de Bas de Paje
A footnote exists to clarify, to expand, to reveal what is not immediately visible in the main text. It offers the references needed to truly understand a story. Whether we choose to read it or not changes everything. Without it, we remain on the surface. With it, we begin to grasp what lies between the lines.
The same is true in life. What separates an acquaintance from a friend, or a fleeting attraction from a lasting love, is the sharing of details, explanations and secrets. It is the choice to go deeper, or to remain at a distance. In books, as in relationships, footnotes draw us beyond the obvious.
In perfumery, a “note” plays a similar role. It gives form to something invisible. It translates a formula into something we can feel and recognize. A note can evoke a place, a material, a memory, or a person.
Paje is the phonetic mix of “page”, our initials, and the hyphen that binds us: that “et” (French for “and”) which is dear to us. That “et” that makes us a duo: Pierre-Junior Et Alice. Our perfumes are the footnotes of our individual stories, and of the story we are now writing together.
We see life as a book, unfolding page by page. A story shaped over time, made of chapters we cannot fully anticipate. Some continue what came before. Others mark a clear break. Sometimes someone appears unexpectedly. Sometimes someone disappears just as suddenly.
Notes de Bas de Paje is the story we tell through scent. Ours, yours, and the one that takes shape through shared moments, encounters, choices and turning points. It is not an idealized story, but a real one. A story of detours, of surprises, of traces left behind by life itself.
It begins with two lawyers who chose to step away from a predetermined path in order to write a new one.
