Barber Jeremias Taylor earned an outstanding reputation in Victorian Britain in the 19th century. In his barbershop, which opened in 1854, he used only natural essences for shaving and hair care, which helped his business in London's famous Old Bond Street in the West End attract a large clientele. Together with his son Ivan, a trained chemist, he constantly developed new herbal applications and care products, so that the products became increasingly sophisticated, effective and therefore more popular.
From 1930 onwards, Sydney Taylor continued to run the business, using the family's wealth of experience so skilfully that product sales went from strength to strength and he soon opened a second shop in the equally prestigious Jermyn Street in the St. James's district.
Sydney Taylor's son Leonard became the owner in 1955 and continued the business in the tried and tested manner. In 1996, the time came to pass on the reins once again – Barry Klein, Leonard Taylor's son-in-law, became chairman, ensuring that the business remained in the family.
