A woody wind blows over the new creations! It smells of the Middle East, of sensuality and mystery. Oud is a rare resin extracted from the wood of the agarwood tree. It is considered the finest, most precious and most valuable fragrance in today's niche perfumery.
Olfactorily, it lies halfway between incense and leather. The essence has a dark colour and an intense aroma and is highly prized worldwide. It is said that oud is more valuable than its equivalent weight in gold. When combined with other woody notes, oud creates a warm and sensual atmosphere.
The origin of the name oud (and its etymological cousin, the lute) can be literally defined as a thin piece of wood resembling a straw. Wood is a symbol of elegance that radiates a warm feeling, well-being and harmony.
Fragrance notes
The fragrance opens with top notes of cinnamon and osmanthus, surrounded by heart notes of rose, geranium and jasmine. The perfume continues to unfold with a blend of agarwood and other precious woods such as Haitian vetiver and guaiac wood. Amber, musk and labdanum combine to give oud more depth and harmoniously round off the fragrance.
Bottle and packaging
Each Eau de Parfum embodies the spirit and philosophy of Pineider and is a masterpiece. It is presented in a vial adorned with a metal cap, which is in turn encased in hammered deerskin in shades of brown, ivory or yellow. The unique container for the bottle is made of sapele, a hard mahogany wood, and is reminiscent of the days when precious fragrances – such as bergamot essence – were still transported in carriages.
