In the heart of Auvergne, home to Huitième Art and Pierre Guillaume, lies the Bois Noirs mountain range, where torrents and waterfalls spread the scent of moss, bark, wood, earth, humus and rock. These scents and the magnificent natural surroundings inspired Pierre to create the Eau de Parfum ‘Monsieur’.
The composition of woody notes is enveloped by the mineral freshness of water bubbling from the rocks, which sprinkles the leaves of the rich vegetation: ‘Monsieur’ is a powerful, rich, complex and moving perfume full of organic sensuality.
The perfume contains essential oils of patchouli, cedar, vetiver and sandalwood. As a speciality, Pierre Guillaume uses absolutes of oak moss, incense and papyrus from the Robertet fragrance house in Grasse, which specialises in powerful natural effects, for ‘Monsieur’.
A masculine harmony of eight wood notes. For ‘Monsieur’, Pierre Guillaume had the brand's tried-and-tested Cyclop bottle, manufactured by Saverglass and Alpha Laser, coloured black to visually express the extremely masculine character of the perfume. He describes his new creation as ‘ultra-woody’. The wonderfully distinctive woody chypre note has been concentrated to 15%.
Modern phytoparfumery
The term ‘art’ primarily encompasses the products of the ‘fine arts’: architecture, sculpture, painting, music, dance and literature. Film is also often included as the seventh art. Z
The Black Collection comprises ten fragrance creations. What makes them special is that all the perfumes contain plant-based, natural ingredients of organic quality, which are combined with synthetic fragrance molecules – a synergy of natural, often organic essences and synthetic accords (phytoparfumery) that reflect the imagination of their creator, Pierre Guillaume.
