Mansa Musa was the ruler of the Mali Empire in the 13th century. During his reign, Mali was one of the richest kingdoms in Africa and Mansa Musa was one of the richest men in the world. During his pilgrimage to Mecca, he built mosques, met with the Sultan of Egypt and spent so much gold that it caused 12 years of gold inflation.
Spanish cartographers depicted Mansa Musa in their atlases sitting on a throne holding a lump of gold and a golden sceptre. Mansa means ‘king’ or ‘ruler’ in Maninka, the family name of the rulers of the Mali Empire. It is the olfactory metaphor for wealth and generosity.

Musa embarked on the Hajj to Mecca in 1324, travelling with a huge entourage and a large supply of gold. On the way, he stopped in Cairo, where his generous gifts significantly influenced the value of gold in Egypt and attracted the attention of the entire Muslim world.

With passion, dedication and creative drive, Nico and Robin are responsible for every aspect of Pernoire. In their laboratory in Zurich, the childhood friends create unique, long-lasting fragrances, while developing bold marketing campaigns in their office in Basel.
Pernoire has made it its mission to ensure the exceptional performance and longevity of its fragrances, which last on the skin for at least 12 hours. This is achieved through the use of rare and natural essences and an extremely high fragrance oil concentration of over 25%. This guarantees an impressive scent aura and outstanding performance.
The packaging
The packaging is made from environmentally friendly and sustainable wood, wrapped in soft-touch paper with silver printing. The foil is biodegradable. The front features the name and symbol of the perfume, as well as the declaration ‘Extrait de Parfum’ and ‘Made in Switzerland’. The back features the concept of the personality and the perfume.
