PHI is a luxurious fragrance inspired by natural rose extract produced in Afghanistan's rose province of Nangarhar. This rose oil is extremely rare and of the highest quality. Inspired by these roses, which grow on dry and harsh soil, ‘PHI’ is a rare gem that encompasses contrasting lines and is rich in natural raw materials that lend depth and authenticity. Due to the limited quantity of rose oil, we cannot guarantee that ‘Rose de Kandahar’ will always be available.
PHI opens with a lush, fruity apricot. This completely natural apricot extract enchants with its surprising richness and blends with a hint of cinnamon and bitter almond, softened by essential bergamot oil.
These spices lead to a voluptuous rose at the heart of the fragrance: extremely rare rose essential oil with its unique scent of spices, plums and petals blends with rose absolute from Bulgaria and hints of bourbon geranium. The rose petals melt on the skin into a dark tobacco base, built from a wonderful absolute made from dried tobacco leaves.
The animalic, leathery and woody tobacco prepares the ground for a generously dosed layer of patchouli in the base of PHI. Here, woody and gourmand notes transform into animalic nuances. Vetiver, vanilla and tonka bean provide richness and brilliance. A generous amount of exclusive musk and ambergris round off the body of the fragrance and envelop the roses.
Roses as an alternative
In 2004, the German charity Welthungerhilfe launched a project to support farmers in the mountainous province of Nangarhar. Farmers who grew poppies were offered a promising alternative to earn a sustainable living in the harsh mountains: 1,500 metres above sea level, roses began to bloom. The Rosa damascena, with its pink flowers, produces a wonderful, high-quality organic rose oil that is unique and rare. Although the amount of organic rose oil produced is steadily increasing, demand exceeds production capacity.
