Alchemistic noses
Under the artistic direction of Nicolas Chabot, perfumers Amélie Bourgeois and Anne-Sophie Behaghel have created a hypnotic collection, a delight for the skin and soul, selfless perfumes, creative atmospheres in which everything is wonderfully extravagant, whimsical, playful, sometimes disturbing or inappropriate. What a wealth of abstraction! No glance at the past, no references to the mother liquors of modern perfumery. Perfumes created by accident or forgetfulness.
An aesthetic manifesto, subtle and modern, the Aether project elevates perfumery to the realm of art.
The senses of chemistry
Where do these ethereal, concise and retro-futuristic potions come from? Were they perhaps mixed by mad scientists behind a thousand galaxies?
As a new library of scents and chemical reactions, Aether fires the imagination and heals broken hearts disappointed by too much conformity and a turn towards realism. A modern pharmacopoeia for adventurous souls in search of surprises, illusions and new creations.
Aether is a tribute by its creators to synthetic molecules and the intoxication of chemistry. In an olfactory kamikaze, the elementary molecules explode the fragrances into bizarre abstractions, into a beautiful stranger. The nose, unable to grasp any familiar ingredients, is first surprised and then overwhelmed by emotions: discovery, the first day, the first time. If each molecule takes on a completely different scent when combined, who could say exactly what scent aldehyde C12 or Iso E Super has on its own?
Sometimes the molecule is a shimmering bubble and sometimes a dazzling beauty – this almost nothingness in its infinity – is the sacred young muse of the collection. At Aether, there is no display of flowers or high-flying poetry about historical, traditional raw materials; rather, there is an evocation of metallic vegetation, unknown woods, imperceptible sounds, moments to come... these fragrances, full of the greatest imagination, do not envy others for their trail, but prefer a halo, a magic ring, an atmospheric and mystical aura.
