A fragrance that immediately reveals the fresh and floral character of neroli, which comes from the sunny coasts of Calabria and is very lively thanks to a rich blend of citrus fruits: bitter orange and mandarin from Sicily and bergamot from Calabria. In the heart, a variety of fragrance nuances unfold, from the sunny and floral notes of orange blossom absolute and petitgrain to fresh accords of ginger and Timur pepper and the mysterious notes of geranium absolute. Thanks to notes of cedarwood, precious iris and musk, the fragrance finishes on a soft and elegant note.
Neroli oil is an essential oil obtained by steam distillation from the flowers of the bitter orange tree (Citrus aurantium subspecies Amara or Bigaradia). The Bigaradier orange tree is particularly common in Mediterranean regions. The flowers are usually picked by hand between the end of April and the beginning of May. Neroli oil is very precious: 1000 kg of fresh flowers yield 1.5 kg of essential oil.The neroli essence selected for Neroli Mediterrano comes from the Calabria region in southern Italy, which is renowned for its high-quality citrus production. Its fragrance is fresh, slightly bitter and floral with aromatic facets.
The history of neroli dates back to the 17th century, when Marie-Anne Orsini, Duchess of Bracciano and Princess of Nerola, introduced the essence of the bitter orange tree as a modern fragrance. She used it to perfume her gloves and her bath. Since then, the term neroli has been used to describe this essence.
