Mysterious, sensual and long-lasting.
Nuances of incense and myrrh combine with the structure of sacred wood, Palo Santo, to create a mysterious composition that is as fascinating as the shamanic poem in the Ayahuasca ritual.
"I like the idea of having to burn Palo Santo to release its fragrance. It's a return to the origins of perfumery, to a time when perfume was still called “per fumare” and gifts to God were enveloped in a misty veil.
In this fragrance, myrrh and incense combine with Atlas cedarwood, nutmeg and Calabrian bergamot, creating freshness and interesting contrasts. Precious musk embraces the woody composition, lending it a comforting and sensual quality. I wanted this fragrance to be as surprising and calming as a prayer to the heavens." Alexandra Monet, perfumer.
Be careful! Ayahuasca ...
Santo Incienso Sillage Sacré can induce trance-like states and be addictive. It is inspired by ayahuasca, the psychotropic brew often used in shamanic rituals in the Amazon together with palo santo.
The South American wood palo santo was used by the Incas for its magical powers. It has an impressive number of qualities, is an antioxidant, relaxes and has spiritual properties. In South America, and particularly in Peru, it is still highly valued today and used in healing medicine. Used as an incense, Palo Santo keeps evil spirits away and is a ‘tree whose soul is released when burned,’ according to Peruvian singer Olga Milla.
