Camille was 23 when Annick Goutal created it for her. She imagined a gentle caress of rose and pear, wrapped in vanilla and musk. A new signature
In 2018, la Maison Goutal is writing an exciting new chapter in its own story. Its ability to tell stories and immediately stir emotions is where Goutal draws its inspiration with a new signature: Goutal Paris, Conteur de Parfums.
Annick Goutal's father had planned a career as a pianist for his daughter. Although she was talented and even received a prestigious award, she rebelled against this forced career and fled to London. There she was discovered as a model, but realized after a while that this wasn’t her true calling. Years later, during a visit to Grasse, the desire arose in her to create a fragrance. Therefore, in 1976 she became an apprentice to Henri Sorsana and the house Robertet agreed to assist her with the creation of her perfume. In 1980 Annick Goutal opened her own business in an old book shop in the Rue de Bellechasse in Paris's Saint-Germain, where she served an ever-growing clientele with her creations. From 1985 onwards, Annick Goutal worked with the Taittinger group which was well-known for its Champagne. This helped her to internationally distribute her perfumes, especially in the United States, where the main sales were made. Annick Goutal passed away in 1999 at only 53 years of age. Since then her work has been continued by her daughter Camille Goutal and perfumer Isabelle Doyen, who was already successfully working for the company for many years.
