Parfum d'Empire - Salute!

Sparkling and invigorating

Cheers! A tribute to Corsica's sunny wines, the generosity of the terroirs and the talent of the winemakers: Salute! Named after the island's traditional toast. Much more than an accurate representation of the wine and the grapes, it is the spirit of a joyful gathering in the island's vineyards that Marc-Antoine Corticchiato has distilled into a festive fragrance.

Lively Corsican citrus essences – lemon, grapefruit and mandarin – sparkle in the top notes like the first thirst-quenching sip of a cool Mediterranean wine. This is followed by a wine leaf accord that reveals the rose and eau-de-vie facets of a wine extract – perhaps the largest quantity of this precious substance ever used in a fragrance.

Scents of the terroir, aromas of cool cellars lined with rows of oak barrels, a hint of iris and powdery musk for the angel's share. Salute! celebrates the earth and the fruits of the earth. A miracle... A celebration. Enjoy it and drink to your health.

"I love the connection to the earth, to the terroir and its power, which is expressed in the Corsican vineyards. And I've always wanted to explore the connection between wines and fragrances. While composing Salute!, I remembered my grandfather who, like many farmers at the time, made his own wine. He stored it in huge smoked glass demijohns in his cellar. That's where the earthy notes of the fragrance come from. But I wanted them to be airy and evoke the Angel's Share. I also had to keep the overdose of wine extract in check, a substance I love but which is also difficult to control. I tamed it with Corsican citrus oils." – Marc-Antoine Corticchiato

Mehr über Parfum d'Empire

Parfum d'Empire was founded in 2003 by Marc-Antoine Corticchiato, a Corsican who is both the owner and perfumer of the company.

Corticchiato was born in Morocco and spent his entire childhood and youth between the lemon fields of the Moroccan countryside and the Corsican forests near Cuttoli Corticchiato, where his family lives. He developed a passion for fragrances and aromas at an early age, and only his enthusiasm for horse riding could have seriously jeopardised his career as a perfumer.

Although a career as a competitive rider seemed almost inevitable, Marc-Antoine Corticchiato decided to study chemistry, graduating with a PhD (doctorate). But that wasn't enough: he went on to study at the renowned ISIPCA in Versailles, the place where the best perfume makers are trained. With this perfect starting point for a career as a perfumer, the foundation was laid for his own perfume house, Parfum d'Empire.

The bottle is a reference to the long, round container created in 1804 by Jean Marie Farina, which is suitable for storage in the shaft of a military boot. The glass is heavy and a laurel wreath shines on the golden cap. Corticchiato spent years conducting archival research to trace the scents of bygone eras. The resulting concept for his historically inspired perfumes was awarded a prize by the French Ministry of Research.
