The inspiring and sensual fragrance Smoky Soul by Olfactive Studio is a smoky black tea scent infused with osmanthus blossoms and their fruity, apricot accents.
The black tea, extracted using supercritical CO₂, has been smoked with vetiver essence from Java, which adds facets of hot, burnt wood. Black pepper reinforces the spicy and dark notes of the tea. A hint of seaweed absolute underscores the salty and mineral moss notes found in some Chinese teas.
The soul of tea
With Smoky Soul, Olfactive Studio presents the first chapter of its new trilogy in the Sepia collection, inspired by teas from around the world. The next two creations, currently in development, will take us to other continents and their tea traditions.
The creation was entrusted to perfumer Marc-Antoine Corticchiato, a lover of high-quality, natural raw materials. His work unfolded around the plant with its fragrant leaves and numerous subtle and aromatic facets. For this new triptych, the magnificent radiance of photography gives way to a timeless fragrance full of emotion and soul.
In the first act, Smoky Soul captures the soul of a smoky black tea and gives it depth and presence. This photo of a landscape in the Fujian region of China, where tea culture is a proud tradition, transports us to a moment of eternity and contemplative heights. Smoky Soul succeeds in capturing this moment of weightlessness with the grace of the materials: black tea, which gets its smoky facet from the essence of Java vetiver, has been blended with osmanthus and nuanced with patchouli.
Osmanthus is a traditional Chinese flower that is sometimes used to perfume tea: In Fujian, the fresh flowers are sprinkled on precious tea to enhance its beguiling flavour. This elegant flower is also used in the top and heart notes of perfumes, especially since Patou's ‘1000’ perfume: its scent is both floral and fruity, reminiscent of apricot and suede.
