Calé Fragranze d'Autore - Brezza di Seta

Sitting at the mirror, she touches up her make-up, clasps on a thin string of little pearls and adds an embracing, velvety perfume. Then she stands up, straightens the folds in her soft dress and moves off sinuously yet discreetly, leaving a faint trace of enticing rosy and talc notes topped by a sparkling green note.

This vivid picture of charm, of composed elegance, of taste and style, containing an innate tenderness, a pleasant harmony and an understated sensuality, takes on particular, unique facets. Brezza di Seta is a delicate interplay of emotions that alternate without every overlapping, a versatile, delicate undulation. Its fresh, green notes almost seem to protect a heart of talc, discreet yet definitely present, that hides and then shows itself, almost shyly.

In 1955, Silvio Levi's grandfather Giuseppe Casolari founded the company Calé in Milan. He had already been running a ladies' hairdressing and beauty salon there before the Second World War – with great success. With Calé, he focused on the distribution of niche fragrances, which Casolari selected with great care and enthusiasm and then imported from abroad. At the time, this was absolutely groundbreaking, as the Italian fragrance world of the 1950s was mainly dominated by French creations, most of which originated from various haute couture companies.

Even today, the Calé headquarters is still located in the centre of Milan, diagonally opposite the church of Santa Maria alla Porta. In 1995, Silvio Levi took over the family business. A trained chemist, he had previously worked in the pharmaceutical industry, but had a long-held dream: to create his own brand of fragrances, which he would oversee from the initial idea to the finished creation. He had a specific concept in mind: each perfume should be inspired by short stories, feelings and memory snippets, which he wanted to give a fragrant form.

In collaboration with Maurizio Cerizza and the resulting line of eight fragrances under the name Calé Fragranze d'Autore, Levi fulfilled this dream. Since then, further fragrance creations have been added, all bearing the unmistakable signature of Levi's imagination.
