Arnaud Poulain presents a delicious interpretation of orange blossom. It evokes the joy of an afternoon in Marrakech's Jardin Majorelle, where neroli and jasmine perfume the ultramarine-coloured pathways. Here, he revisits the orange blossom like a delicious, sweet oriental pastry.
Neroli is nothing other than the essence of orange blossom, a fresh and delicate fragrance that seduced society ladies in the 17th century. The name neroli comes from Anne-Marie Orsini, Duchess of Bracciano, Roman princess of Nerola, who used it to perfume her gloves and bath water. It symbolises purity, innocence and exudes a sweet and calming fragrance.
‘Neroli is extracted from a delicate yet intensely fragrant white flower found in the Jardin Majorelle in Marrakech. The sun's rays accentuate the beautiful colours and fragrance of the orange blossom. A marvellous, harmonious setting: the sky, the lush vegetation and the clean lines of Villa Oasis. The ultramarine blue colour of the walls inspired me to create a fragrance that represents this extravagance. This is my way of honouring Yves Saint Laurent, who fell in love with this place, saved it and made it what it is today: a thoroughly relaxing and inspiring retreat of peace.’ - Arnaud Poulain
