Inspired by the scenery of Villa Malaparte and the legendary film ‘Contempt’ (1963), which was shot on the island of Capri. The fragrance is unusual, fresh, light and yet calming. The scent notes include sweet orange and bitter orange, ylang-ylang extract and white musk.
Johan Bergelin: ‘I have always been fascinated by legendary and groundbreaking films. The 1963 film “Contempt” starring Brigitte Bardot and Jack Palance has both cult status and style. It features a colour scheme of red (tolerance, love), blue (coldness) and white (neutral), which refers to the national flags of France and the USA and reflects the narrative elements.’
The Capri fragrance journey: orange trees in bloom at Villa Malaparte
The Villa Malaparte is surrounded by beautiful grounds with olive groves and trees. The sun is shining from a clear blue sky. I can hear the sea below me, I can feel the afternoon breeze touching my skin. I breathe in the aromas of the blossoming orange trees and mandarin leaves, feel the warm rocks with my hands. The atmosphere is serene, almost biblical.
Through my binoculars, I see him wearing a white linen suit, driving a small red sports car and casually holding his cigarette. Bardot wears her blue hairband, the wind blowing through her blonde mane. In the distance, I spot Christina, the yacht. I don't think Onassis could stand the heat. I see Jackie lounging on the sun deck, wearing sunglasses and a Pucci kaftan, watching her friend jump into the cool water. A waiter comes out with a silver tray and offers the ladies refreshing drinks. I imagine the clinking of ice cubes in crystal glasses. San Pellegrino with a slice of lemon, just the way I like it.
