Furious green...
A green explosion forms around the mastic tree, an evergreen plant typical of Corsica. Wood, moss, earth, hay, honey, resin, leather... green from head to toe and in every shade, it carries the scent of the maquis with it. Invigorating and impetuous.
Furioso. The term, used in music, means ‘to be played quickly and passionately’ ... because Corsica, where Marc-Antoine Corticchiato has his roots, never rests. Here, the eyes, nose and heart are in overdrive. And when you are about to burst with impressions and emotions, you go into the Macchie.
The perfumer's latest homage to his homeland was inspired by the evocative scent that greets returning travellers: the green, intense and versatile fragrance of lentiscus, also known as mastic, a shrub that grows on the sunny slopes of Corsica, from the highlands to the Mediterranean coast.
But ‘Corsica Furiosa’ is much more than that: it is the quintessence of what makes the ‘Island of Beauty’ so unique, wild and strong. The fierce contrast of its scents, colours, shapes, passions, secrets...
Since everyone in Corsica has their own recipe for it, a fiery sip of Eau de Vie ignites the top notes. In its combustible wake is the green bite of ‘Népita’, a local mint species. Crisp green tomato leaves intensify the natural atmosphere.
Then mastic comes into its own and we get down to business. The distinctive essential oil is the first to appear. Peppery, fruity and aromatic, then earthy with mushroom notes, we arrive at the heart of Corsica Furiosa. Then the absolute takes over with its gentler green notes of hay, light tobacco, honey and straw accents, darkened by a hint of liquorice. A third type of extraction using a special technique adds nuances of resin, spices and leather, which lead deeper into the mountains of the Macchie... until you lie down on a bed of moss.
