The longest spell in the ancient Egyptian Book of the Dead, Spell 125, describes the ceremonial process of crossing the underworld to reach the afterlife. It also describes the famous ceremony in which the heart is weighed, and only a heart as light as a feather passes the test of the gods.
The spell itself is full of vivid and symbolic images that provided a wealth of inspiration for this perfume. It represents the light that is drawn to darkness, and as it moves away from the burnt tar notes found in Anubis, Spell 125 follows the concept of my first perfume, thus closing the circle.
This new fragrance will be the seventh offering in the Papillon collection, released on the seventh day of the seventh month, coinciding with our seventh anniversary. In ancient Egypt, the number seven was considered the number of the gods, and these deep esoteric connections run like a thread through the inspiration and composition of Spell 125.
Everything about this perfume is interwoven with magic, history and mystery. I loved the cyclical nature of creating Spell 125; I started the Papillon collection with a perfume inspired by ancient Egypt, and it was a pleasure to create something completely different.
