Indult - Manakara

Manakara is a town on the east coast of Madagascar. The surrounding area is known for its lychee plantations. If you could imagine roses as fruits, they would most closely resemble lychees.

The combination of flowers and fruits gave rise to Manakara: an exclusive fragrance that combines the lush essence of wonderful Bulgarian roses with the fresh and subtle scent of lychee.

The perfumer Francis Kurkdjian

Francis Kurkdjian was not born in Grasse, nor does he come from a family of perfumers. However, he carries a deep passion for perfume in his heart.

As a child, he learned piano and dance, which taught him discipline. At 15, he decided to become a perfumer. At 25, he created his first perfume: ‘Le Mâle’ for Jean-Paul Gaultier. The fragrance became a global success. What followed was a mixture of imagination, listening, and an interest in other cultures and their differences. His secret: create trends, but never follow them. Francis Kurkdjian lived in New York for several years. He now lives in Paris and shares his creations – beauty and fashion – with the luxury world and his private clients as a contribution to the world of art. Francis Kurkdjian is a member of the Société Française des Parfumeurs.

Mehr über Indult Paris

The story of Indult Paris is particularly inspiring from two different perspectives. The first is that Francis Kurkdjian, the world-renowned master perfumer, developed his first niche perfumes in 2006. The result was four breathtaking fragrances, all of which are still part of the Indult range today. Francis still speaks highly of these fragrance creations and now owns another brand with dozens of fragrances bearing his name.

The second aspect is a story full of enthusiasm and passion for fragrances, which opened a new chapter for Indult in the niche perfume market. This is the takeover of the brand by Kim Charles, a fragrance lover and expert who frequently visits websites such as Fragrantica and Basenotes. Kim Charles says that perfume forums played a crucial role in his entry into the world of perfume and educated him with their wealth of knowledge, ultimately becoming an integral part of his personal development in terms of perfumes. He even admits that without them, he would never have made this important decision. For Kim Charles, Indult is the embodiment of a dream come true and another step into the arena of fine fragrances, now as a brand owner.

‘A perfume is a scent trail, a breath in the air that, although invisible, enriches our life experience, enhances our perception and leads us to discover different facets of our own personality. And finally, it brings a smile to your face. That's how I felt when I tried Manakara for the first time, and I was immediately hooked.’ – Kim Charles

At Indult Paris, we believe in perfection in execution and total creative freedom for our perfume artists. We let talent and knowledge take precedence, rather than limiting them with budgets and marketing constraints. We are growing, evolving and reinventing ourselves as a brand, and you will see this regularly.

As a brand, we do not engage in mass production or mass distribution, as this goes against our values. Instead, we select our sales partners very carefully and produce our fragrances in small, non-industrial batches. We focus on what's in the bottle; we believe we are here for people who want a perfectly executed, rare fragrance, and we offer them exactly what they are looking for.

The word Indult means, in its etymology, a special permission to take a step away from what one normally does, and even from what is normally allowed. We love to grant perfume lovers and our customers who want to expand their olfactory horizons the Indult to experience fine fragrances. The Indult is now yours, use it wisely and never stop discovering.
