More about Gritti
Gritti, a family of perfumers steeped in tradition, has revived the historic recipes of their ancestor Alvise Gritti, a Venetian nobleman and alchemist, in a modern version. Alvise Gritti, who lived in the 16th century, was a pioneer in the development of fragrances that primarily evoked emotions and told stories. The logo is the ancient coat of arms of the Gritti family. The motto on the banderole above the coat of arms reads: ‘Be strong and resist even in difficult moments.’
The fragrances in the Gritti line all bear the coat of arms of one of the most prestigious Doge families of the “Serenissima Repubblica di Venezia”, the illustrious Republic of Venice. The Gritti family brings the unique impressions of ancient Venice back to life – the aristocracy, the courtly rituals, the courtesans, constantly in search of elegance and sensuality, and the multicultural society that already characterised life in Venice at that time.
The fragrances capture all these impressions and masterfully interpret this era. The fragrances accompany the wearer on a journey from Venice along the historic Silk Road.
