Opus 1144 from the Unum collection not only describes the beginning of the Gothic era, but also the emergence of a feeling that sweeps us away like a whirlwind. A cleansing storm, the beginning of something new. A return to our roots, to the true essence of humanity.
This feeling explodes into a world that emerges from a leather base and builds up from grey ambergris. A rain of vanilla and musk sinks into sandalwood, cashmere wood and benzoin resin, giving the ever-echoing iris a voluminous resonance.
Hovering above it all is a thin halo of lemon, mandarin and jasmine, refined with warm elemi resin. With its citrusy, cool, yet balsamic and thoroughly powdery notes, Opus 1144 can be seen as the image of a Gothic cathedral.
Artfully carved grey stone rises towards the sky, and the perfect harmonies of the architecture, with its vaults, pointed arches, buttresses and ornate rose windows, point to another world. Austere forms and craftsmanship in the details combine to create an impressive monument.
