A Collector Edition for an olfactory masterpiece
In 2025, Bois Impérial by Quentin Bisch celebrates its 5-year anniversary. Five years after its launch, the manifesto fragrance has risen from a confidential gem to an icon of modern perfumery. The perfect moment to celebrate it with an exclusive anniversary edition, just in time for the festive season.
For this collector edition, Essential Parfums sought to echo the olfactory duality of the Eau de Parfum with striking intensity. The design becomes a dance of light and shadow, mirroring both the luminous freshness and the darker notes of Quentin Bisch’s creation. The bottle’s minimalist, architectural silhouette is enhanced by bold graphic contrasts — jet black and glimmering silver — offering refined elegance with an edgy aesthetic.
A manifesto fragrance inspired by a family heritage
Iconic fragrance from Essential Parfums, Bois Impérial shares a special bond with the personal history of Géraldine Archambault, founder of the House. Its inspiration is rooted in Hué, the imperial city of Vietnam, and more precisely on the bridge over the “River of Perfumes”. It was there, during the Indochina War, that her maternal grandparents met.
The story of this meeting inspired a vision in the mind of Géraldine Archambault: an elegant man, leaning against a house on stilts on the Mekong, contemplating the horizon after a tropical downpour. Perfumer Quentin Bisch transposed these images of a humid atmosphere and woody hues into a fragrance signed by Akigalawood, an exclusive natural ingredient upcycled from patchouli.
An olfactive chiaroscuro
Crafted as an olfactory chiaroscuro, Bois Impérial reveals its trail around a beautiful and responsibly sourced ingredient: Akigalawood. At the heart of Quentin Bisch’s creation, this woody note — both radiant and profound — expresses its duality through a refined formula composed of exceptional materials. Between luminous freshness and deep woody tones, Bois Impérial unveils a strikingly distinctive signature.
“I created this fragrance around a precious and extraordinary wood: Akigalawood. Adorned with fresh spices, it is a great woody note made of contrasts, between patchouli and Thai basil.” — Quentin Bisch
A woody ambery masterpiece of high contrasts
Bois Impérial opens with the aromatic facets of a Thai basil accord, lifted by the vibrant bite of timut pepper absolute with zesty grapefruit nuances. This masterful opening highlights the naturally peppery tones of Akigalawood — the signature ingredient of the composition. Reigning at the heart of the fragrance, Akigalawood unfolds its powerful woody and spicy notes, interlaced with the richness of Indonesian patchouli oil and the depth of Haitian vetiver oil.
Driven by the ambery depth of Ambrofix, Bois Impérial asserts itself on the skin with grace and strength, unveiling a magnetic trail of extraordinary lasting power.
An exclusive design between shadow and light
Bois Impérial by Quentin Bisch Collector Edition reinterprets the Maison’s iconic packaging. Enhanced by bold contrasts of black and silver, the bottle and box offer a visual echo to the olfactory duality of this unique fragrance. Accented with a black gradient lacquer, the bottle reveals the purity of its refined architecture and minimalist lines. Its black label enhances the silvery shine of the hot-stamped text. Between shadow and light, this aesthetic continues across the box and its strip, mirroring the bottle’s design and highlighting its striking contrasts.
Composed of 93% naturally derived ingredients, Bois Impérial features jewels from Givaudan’s palette: Orpur-certified natural ingredients, which combine exceptional olfactory qualities with the highest standards of traceability and sustainability.
